Our Meetings

We meet at the Six Bells Public House in St. Albans on the first Monday of the month.

The Club has raised over £500,000 in the past 40 years and distributed these funds to many causes including: Grove House Hospice, Diabetes Eye Screening, Elizabeth Foundation, National Orthopaedic Childrens Ward, St Albans & District Bereavement Network, Pioneer Youth Club, KeechCottage Childrens Hospice, Macmillan Nurses, Youth Talk and many more local charities.

We are a group of people in the St Albans area who wish to serve the local, national and international community and give something back. We want like-minded men and women to contact us so we can do even more. Initially we welcome individuals to attend club events and become involved without commitment. In that way we can get to know each other and if it works out then progress to enrolment as a member.

Anyone aged 18 or over can apply to be considered for membership, although mostly we are aged 30+. We believe in recognising a member’s priorities: family first, work second and Lions third.

Lions derive tremendous satisfaction and fun from helping people and with involvement in events such as Christmas Collections, raffling Easter Eggs, the Corporate Quiz, dances and concerts.

But it is not all too serious. There are social events, such as an annual Charter Night anniversary dinner dance in March, guest nights and an annual barbecue to celebrate the change of President in June/July.

Club members organise a number of social events throughout the year for themselves, their wives, husbands, partners and friends.
